CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2025–2026 REGULAR SESSION House Resolution No. 138 Introduced by Assembly Member Aguiar-Curry August 13, 2026 Relative to National 4-H Week. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST HR 138, as introduced, Aguiar-Curry. Digest Key Bill Text WHEREAS, 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States, supporting nearly 6,000,000 young people across the country, and has young people throughout California in enrollment; and WHEREAS, 4-H helps young people become confident, independent, resilient, and compassionate leaders; and WHEREAS, 4-H is delivered by the Cooperative Extension, a community of more than 100 land-grant universities across the United States that provides experiences for young people to learn through hands-on projects in the important areas of health, science, agriculture, and civic engagement; and WHEREAS, California 4-H is delivered by the University of California Cooperative Extension, a research and education program of the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources; and WHEREAS, This year, the National 4-H Week theme is “Beyond Ready” and reminds us that 4-H is building a ready generation in a world of change and is equipping young people with skills for the future while meeting them where they are today; and WHEREAS, Expanding from its strong agricultural roots, 4-H helps young people explore the world around them and grow into productive adults; and WHEREAS, Supporting future leaders in science, agriculture, and community leadership is an important imperative for the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture 4-H program; and WHEREAS, The network of youth members, volunteers, and leaders will celebrate National 4-H Week during the week of October 4 through October 10, 2026, inclusive; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That the Legislature Assembly supports the designation of October 4 through October 10, 2026, inclusive, as National 4-H weeks throughout California, and encourages all our citizens to recognize 4-H for the significant impact it has made and continues to make by empowering youth with the skills they need to lead for a lifetime; and be it further Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
