  89R17008 DNC-D     By: Lopez of Cameron H.B. No. 5189       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to instructional materials developed for police chiefs by   the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement on issues specific to women   in law enforcement.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Subchapter H, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is   amended by adding Section 1701.360 to read as follows:           Sec.   1701.360.     INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FOR POLICE CHIEFS ON   ISSUES FOR WOMEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. (a) The commission shall   develop instructional materials for police chiefs on issues   specific to women in law enforcement. The instructional materials   shall include information regarding:                 (1)  physical and mental health;                 (2)  reproductive health;                 (3)  work-life balance;                   (4)  breast cancer awareness and support; and                 (5)     information on assistance and accommodations   appropriate for women in law enforcement facing an issue described   by Subdivisions (1)-(4).             (b)  The commission shall:                 (1)     make the instructional materials developed under   Subsection (a) available for the training and continuing education   program under Section 96.641, Education Code; and                 (2)     distribute the instructional materials developed   under Subsection (a) to police chiefs for self-study.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
