  89R16348 MM-D     By: Tinderholt H.B. No. 4928       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the reporting of child abuse or neglect.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 261.103, Family Code, is amended by   amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as   follows:          (a)  Except as otherwise provided by this section   [ Subsections (b) and (c) ] and Section 261.405, a report shall be   made to:                (1)  any local or state law enforcement agency; and                (2)  the department .           (a-1)     If the alleged abuse or neglect occurred in a facility   operated, licensed, certified, or registered by a state agency, a   report may be made to [ ; or                [ (3) ]  the state agency that operates, licenses,   certifies, or registers the facility in which the alleged abuse or   neglect occurred in addition to the entities listed under   Subsection (a) .          SECTION 2.  Section 261.103(c), Family Code, is repealed.          SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
