  89R16120 AJZ-F     By: Ward Johnson H.B. No. 4658       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the assistance or cooperation of campus police   departments, certain local governmental entities, and personnel of   places of worship with federal immigration officers at a place of   worship.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 752.053, Government Code, is amended by   amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (d) to read as   follows:          (c)  Notwithstanding Subsection (b)(3), a local entity or   campus police department shall [ may ] prohibit persons who are   employed by or otherwise under the direction or control of the   entity or department from assisting or cooperating with a federal   immigration officer if the assistance or cooperation occurs without   a judicial warrant at a place of worship.           (d)     The personnel of a place of worship may not authorize a   federal immigration officer operating within the course and scope   of the officer's immigration-related investigation or enforcement   duties to enter the place of worship without a judicial warrant.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
