  89R10951 MEW-D     By: Patterson H.B. No. 3606       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to an exemption from teacher certification examinations   for certain persons who graduated from general academic teaching   institutions.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 21.048, Education Code, is amended by   adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows:           (a-3)     Notwithstanding Subsections (a) and (a-2), the board   shall propose rules to exempt a person who is seeking certification   under this subchapter and who holds a bachelor's degree in   education from a general academic teaching institution, as defined   by Section 61.003, from a requirement to take a certification   examination otherwise prescribed by this section for the class of   certificate the person is seeking.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
