      By: Moody, Schofield H.B. No. 2986       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the authority of an appellate court to lift a stay in   connection with an interlocutory appeal.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 51.014, Civil Practice and Remedies   Code, is amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:           (b-1)     Notwithstanding Subsection (b), the appellate court   may temporarily lift a stay for a specific and limited time on a   party's motion if the appellate court determines that lifting the   stay is necessary only for the specific and limited purpose of   preventing irreparable harm to a party or the public.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
