      By: Leach H.B. No. 2462       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the use of a high occupancy vehicle lane by certain   operators of motor vehicles.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Subchapter I, Chapter 545, Transportation Code,   is amended by adding Section 545.429 to read as follows:           Sec.   545.429.     USE OF HIGH OCCUPANCY VEHICLE LANE BY CERTAIN   OPERATORS. (a) Subject to Subsection (b), a female operator of a   motor vehicle who is pregnant or is a parent or legal guardian of   another person is entitled to use any high occupancy vehicle lane in   this state regardless of the number of occupants in the motor   vehicle.           (b)     The entitlement provided by Subsection (a) does not   apply if the Texas Department of Transportation receives notice   from the United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway   Administration that the use of a high occupancy vehicle lane as   provided by Subsection (a) would result in the loss of federal   highway funding or other punitive actions taken against this state   due to noncompliance with federal laws, regulations, or policies.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
