  89R3452 PRL-D     By: Schofield H.B. No. 2280       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the authority of a property owners' association to   regulate a property owner's display of political signs.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 259.002, Election Code, is amended by   adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:           (f)     Unless a sign described by Subsection (b) is displayed   in violation of a restrictive covenant permitted by this section, a   property owners' association may not issue to the property owner   displaying the sign any communication, including a letter, e-mail,   or oral demand, purporting to restrict the sign's display. A   property owner who receives a communication from a property owners'   association issued in violation of this subsection may bring an   action for injunctive relief under this subsection to enjoin the   association from engaging in the practice. The court shall award   reasonable attorney's fees to a property owner who prevails in an   action under this subsection.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
