  89R3638 RAL-D     By: Gervin-Hawkins H.B. No. 707       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the use of parental child safety placements.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is   amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows:           Sec.   264.908.     USE OF PARENTAL CHILD SAFETY PLACEMENTS. (a)     Notwithstanding other law, the department shall use a parental   child safety placement in each case in which the department   determines it is appropriate.           (b)     If the department determines that a parental child   safety placement is not appropriate, the department shall:                 (1)     record in writing in the child's case file the   reasons the department determined a parental child safety placement   was not appropriate; and                 (2)     notify the child's state representative and state   senator about the department's decision and the reasons the   department determined a parental child safety placement was not   appropriate.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
