First Responders’ Day. This measure would declare October 28, 2025, as First Responders’ Day and would urge all Californians to observe and promote the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities that promote awareness of the contributions of first responders in California. Digest Key Fiscal Committee: NO Bill Text WHEREAS, Every day, police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, 9-1-1 dispatchers, public works professionals, and other emergency personnel work as our first line of defense, protecting our communities and ensuring California is the safest place to live, work, and visit; and WHEREAS, California’s first responders react swiftly and courageously to emergencies, often putting their own lives at risk to ensure the safety and well-being of others, whether responding to natural disasters, accidents, medical emergencies, or public health and safety threats; and WHEREAS, First Responders’ Day recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action when disaster strikes and play an integral role in making a positive difference in appalling circumstances; and WHEREAS, First responders accept the challenge and responsibility of helping others before helping themselves, providing excellent care and a superior level of service to their fellow citizens during emergencies; and WHEREAS, As a direct result of their extensive training, rapid emergency deployment, and coordinated efforts, first responders save lives every day; and WHEREAS, First responders deserve our gratitude and respect for their commitment to preserving the peace and securing the safety of California residents and visitors; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, the Assembly thereof concurring, That the Legislature declares October 28, 2025, as First Responders’ Day and urges all Californians to observe and promote the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities that promote awareness of the contributions of first responders in California; and be it further Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
