Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 167 CHAPTER 110 Relative to world agritourism day. [ Filed with Secretary of State June 18, 2026. ] LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST ACR 167, Hadwick. World Agritourism Day. This measure would proclaim May 16, 2026, as World Agritourism Day. Digest Key Fiscal Committee: NO Bill Text WHEREAS, California is the nation’s leading agricultural state, producing more than 400 commodities and annually contributing tens of billions of dollars to the state’s economy; and WHEREAS, Family farmers and ranchers across California steward millions of acres of working lands that provide food, fiber, wildlife habitat, and open space for future generations; and WHEREAS, Agritourism, activities that invite the public onto farms, ranches, and agricultural operations for educational, recreational, and cultural experiences, strengthen the connection between consumers and the agricultural producers who grow their food; and WHEREAS, Agritourism activities, such as farm tours, harvest festivals, farm stays, pumpkin patches, u-pick operations, farmers’ markets, and agricultural education programs, help Californians better understand where their food comes from and the hard work required to produce it; and WHEREAS, These activities also provide farmers and ranchers with opportunities to diversify their income, helping sustain family farms and rural economies in the face of rising costs, drought, regulatory burdens, and market volatility; and WHEREAS, Rural communities throughout California benefit from agritourism through increased visitation, local spending, and support for small businesses; and WHEREAS, Agritourism plays an important role in educating young people about agriculture, natural resources, conservation, and the importance of preserving California’s agricultural heritage; and WHEREAS, World Agritourism Day is celebrated internationally to highlight the value of agritourism in supporting farmers, strengthening rural communities, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature recognizes May 16, 2026, as World Agritourism Day and encourages all Californians to visit local farms and ranches, support agricultural producers, and learn more about the vital role agriculture plays in our state; and be it further Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
