CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2025–2026 REGULAR SESSION Assembly Bill No. 2501 Introduced by Assembly Member Lackey February 20, 2026 An act to amend Section 50025 of the Government Code, relating to local government. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2501, as introduced, Lackey. Local government. Existing law authorizes the legislative bodies of local agencies to enter into associations and, through a representative of the associations, attend the Legislature and Congress, and any committees thereof, and present information to aid the passage of legislation which the association deems beneficial to the local agencies in the association, among other things. Existing law authorizes a legislative body to withdraw from the association at any time by resolution. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to the withdrawal provision.
