CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2025–2026 REGULAR SESSION Assembly Bill No. 522 Introduced by Assembly Member DeMaio February 10, 2025 An act relating to private employment. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 522, as introduced, DeMaio. Private employment: labor unions. Existing law establishes the Department of Industrial Relations, which is responsible for, among other things, fostering, promoting, and developing the welfare of wage earners of California to improve their working conditions and to advance their opportunities for profitable employment. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to streamline requirements in state labor law and to curb abuses by labor unions.
