To authorize additional funding for the housing counseling
program of the Department of Housing and Urban De-
velopment.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Coronavirus Housing
4
Counseling Support Act’’.
5
SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

The Congress finds the following:

(1) The spread of COVID–19, which is now
8
considered a global pandemic, is expected to nega-
9
tively impact the incomes of potentially millions of

homeowners, making it difficult for them to pay

their mortgages on time.

(2) Housing counseling is critical to ensuring
3
that homeowners have the resources they need to
4
navigate the loss mitigation options available to
5
them while they are experiencing financial hardship.

SEC. 3. HUD COUNSELING PROGRAM AUTHORIZATION.
7
There is authorized to be appropriated the Secretary
8
of Housing and Urban Development $700,000,000 to
9
carry out counseling services described under section 106
10
of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 (12
11
U.S.C. 1701x).
