SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘United States Cadet 2 Nurse Corps Service Recognition Act of 2021’’. 3 SEC. 2. RECOGNITION AND HONORING OF SERVICE OF IN- 4 DIVIDUALS WHO SERVED IN UNITED STATES 5 CADET NURSE CORPS DURING WORLD WAR 6 II. 7 Section 106 of title 38, United States Code, is 8 amended by adding at the end the following new sub- 9 section: 10 ‘‘(g)(1)(A) Service as a member of the United States 11 Cadet Nurse Corps during the period beginning on July 12 1, 1943, and ending on December 31, 1948, of any indi- 13 vidual who was honorably discharged therefrom pursuant 14 to subparagraph (B) shall be considered active duty for 15 purposes of eligibility and entitlement to headstones, 16 markers, and other benefits under chapters 23 and 24 of 17 this title, other than such benefits relating to the inter- 18 ment or inurnment of the individual in Arlington National 19 Cemetery solely by reason of such service. 20 ‘‘(B)(i) Not later than one year after the date of the 21 enactment of this subsection, the Secretary of Defense 22 shall issue to each individual who served as a member of 23 the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during the period 24 beginning on July 1, 1943, and ending on December 31, 25 1948, a discharge from such service under honorable con- 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:00 Jun 02, 2021 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2568.IH H2568 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 2568 IH ditions if the Secretary determines that the nature and 1 duration of the service of the individual so warrants. 2 ‘‘(ii) A discharge under clause (i) shall designate the 3 date of discharge.
